Finally… Our Mini Turtle Museum has been launched, as well as the Bahasa Malaysia version of our book “Little Turtle Messenger.”
The event, as expected was a big do for the kids. What a treat it was for them – ice cream (courtesy of Pelf’s aunt who owns an ice-cream factory), free-flowing milo (courtesy of Nestle) and local cakes. The crowning event was the distributioon of the book “Duta Kecil Penyu” – the Bahasa Malaysia version of “Little Turtle Messenger.” I think for many of them, it was the first time ever that they had owned a story book.
The kite competition was a big hit too and the sight of the turtles really taking flight in the form of kites was uplifting.
As always, we are indebted to so many people for helping to make the event a success (in random order):
- Y.B. Toh Chin Yaw for a generous sponsorship of the event.
- Mr. Toh Seng Lip for a generous donation.
- Laguna Redang Island Resort for sponsoring the first price for the kite competition.
- Nestle for providing free flowing Milo from their Milo Van.
- Pelf’s aunt for providing ice-cream for everyone.
- Lim Puay Aun for all his help before, during and after the event.
- UMT undergraduate volunteers who took turns to stay nights with us to help with the preparations.
- all the villagers who participated in the Kite competition, and attended the launch, including every single kid who showed up.
- Kathy and Fareea who dropped by to offer some help and cooked a meal for us.
- Pelf who has worked tirelessly all the way through.
Thank you so much all of you for your support and help!
I will now let our pictures tell the full story…
