25 Oct 2009

In about 13 hours, we will begin our journey to creating history by being the first team anywhere in the world to run a Turtle Blogathon for turtle conservation :) And in this post, we will be updating you on what the three of us (Chan, Fong and myself) are doing in those hours leading up to the Turtle Blogathon.

The chatbox will be up sometime in the afternoon, so if the chatbox is visible when you happen to visit us, please say Hi :)

Some heads up on what to expect during the Turtle Blogathon. Chan and I will be writing and publishing a blog post every alternate hour (or so) and in those blog posts, we will be answering the turtle-related questions that you have sent us.

Also, we will be announcing how you could stand a chance to win one of the following three prizes, courtesy of Max Generation Sdn. Bhd. Those announcements will be up at 10:30pm tonight, 9:30am and 11:30am tomorrow:

  1. a 3D2N stay for two in one of 6 locations in Malaysia*
  2. an opportunity to fly a plane* and
  3. a 5D4N stay for two in either Bali, Phuket or Pattaya*

*Terms and Conditions apply.

This is going to be fun!

UPDATES
8:00am
An article about the Turtle Blogathon appears in today’s The Star. You may read it in our TCC News Archive.

9:00am
Chan has just vacuumed her floor and started something cooking in the kitchen that will last through the night (hopefully) :)

Pelf is at the Terrapin Head-starting Facility on UMT campus, feeding the terrapins and changing water in the rearing tanks. Oh, Pelf is also monitoring the website, LOL.

10:45am
Our guest blogger, Rahayu, scolded her cat for sleeping under the car this morning, and is now finalizing her monthly claims and finishing a work-related report so that she can concentrate on writing her posts this evening.

11:45am
Pelf is still on campus and is writing down a list of clothes to pack and stuff to bring to Chan’s. A few turtle T-shirts, the hand-made turtle earrings, turtle pajamas (though we won’t be sleeping, but it’s like a habit to change into my pajamas at night, LOL), camera, what else?

Fong is also on campus, in the laboratory, working on her experiment.

12:35pm
Pelf is hungry. GRRR…

The chatbox is up! Say “Hello” people :)

2:00pm
Pelf just came back from lunch, and will be packing the stuff she had listed this morning. That includes 3-in-1 Nescafe, LOL.

4:00pm
Chan just back online after trying in vain to get some sleep :(

Fong just got home after a long day on campus and will begin packing soon.

Pelf just got up after getting an hour of shut eye. Now charging the hand phone, the iPod. What else needs to be charged?

6:00pm
The three of us went to Giant to get some more food last minute.

7:35pm
We just got back from dinner, and are now setting up our Turtle Blogathon station and testing the internet connection. And the chatbox. Each of us occupies a table, and we will be doing our own thing together — Chan and Pelf will be busy typing posts (let’s hope our fingers won’t fall off) and Fong will be busy uploading pictures and videos into the Turtle Blogathon event page @ Facebook.

8.30pm
We had our opening picture taken together, all wearing the same T-shirt and the huge TCC logo I had printed earlier pasted on Fong’s notebook.
