A day with Pat and Alan Koval

We hosted two more visitors, Pat and Alan Koval from Canada who spent a day with us yesterday (19 May 2010). Pat is the Chairman of WWF Canada and is also a board member in the Turtle Survival Alliance.

They were pleased as they saw newly-emerged river terrapins (which they found adorable), ten-month-old terrapins kept in Malek’s house and a juvenile painted terrapin. We spent quite a bit of time looking at several Malayan Box Tortoises kept in a small concrete pond in a kampong coffee shop down the road. This brought back memories for them as they used to keep one as a pet for 26 years till it is passed on.

Apart from looking at our projects, the exhibits at TCC, the nesting bank, the almost complete Terrapuri Resort (a resort comprising heritage buildings), they also had the opportunity to look at WWF Malaysia’s projects in the area and listen to briefings by River Foo and Nurol.
