Our book launch has been a success!
All the hard work put into preparing for the book launch has paid off. We had over 100 guests and the 100 books in the MPH Mid Valley outlet were sold out shortly after the launch. According to MPH staff, this has never happened before at a book launch. Wow.
Pelf has skillfully related the sequence of events at the launch in her personal blogspot, hence I will not repeat it. Just click at the site below for her complete narration:

The launch gimmick was quite a hit. Thanks again to Joanne Low of MPH who gave me the idea. It took me almost 3 days to complete sewing the meter long turtle and Maya, improvising as I went along. Here is the end result:
One of my ex-classmates said our art teacher would have given me an “A.” Later there were people who wanted to know where they could buy the turtle.
As always there were last minute preparations to be made. The day before, we had gone to have a look at the Pulitzer Corner in MPH Mid Valley where the launch was to take place. We noticed a screen by the side of the stage and immediately came up with the idea to have a powerpoint presentation that would run by itself. This decision saw me collating slides and writing captions till the wee hours. The next morning, Lim added some cute turtle hatchling pictures he had taken during his marine turtle volunteering days in Redang Island.
The launch owes its success to MPH, our special guests, friends, supporters, ex-volunteers and family who turned up to show their support. Special thanks are accorded to:
- Ivy Tan of MPH who approved the launch and Julia who arranged the venue, date and other aspects of the launch. Raj and Pija were at the venue to help us.
