Yoga retreat plus terrapin release equals fun!
Slightly more than a week ago, Joey @ Serenity Yoga and her yoga students came to Penarik, Terengganu, for a 3D2N “Save the Turtles Yoga Retreat”. Joey had very generously invited Prof. Chan, Meg and I to participate in their yoga sessions, which we did. So we joined Joey, Beetho, Cheong, Chan and Lim in two yoga sessions (Prof. Chan also did nasal cleansing with the group one morning). Our new friends in Penarik, Uncle KC and John, also took part in one of the sessions :D
Apart from it being a yoga retreat, it was also a “terrapin release event” because Joey had also managed to secure some terrapin adoptions from her yoga friends and students in KL. The amazing group of yoga enthusiasts–Joey, Beetho, Cheong, Chan, Elly (Cheong and Chan’s seven-year-old daughter), Lim and together with Joey’s students/friends Ivy, Mok, Fennie, Ann Ann, Ean Nee and Sharlin adopted a total of 20 river terrapins!
On the day of the release, Meg and I gathered the river terrapins from Malek, whose family has been helping us raise the terrapins in the compound of their home. At Penarik Inn, some 2 kilometers south from TCC, I demonstrated the microchipping process on two terrapins. Once this was done, all of us headed to the river bank, where we released the 20 adopted terrapins.
I shall let you feast on the pictures (taken by Prof. Chan):

Once again, we would like to acknowledge the following people for supporting our Terrapin Adoption Program:
Joey Liang, Beetho Teh, Cheong Ka Wang, Chan Li Sian, Elly Cheong, Lim Kim Seng, Ivy Tan, Mok Siew Wan, Fennie Foong, Ooi Ann Ann, Khoo Ean Nee and Sharlin Foo :D
Your generosity and support has enabled 20 river terrapins to be returned into the Setiu River, where they belong. May all of them be well and happy. Namaste.
