A historical moment in the Kemaman River
Nota: Baca artikel ini dalam Bahasa Malaysia: Saat bersejarah di Sungai Kemaman
Saturday, 21st May 2011 was a historical day to the local community of Pasir Gajah Village in Kemaman because on this day, more than 100 river terrapin hatchlings were released into the Kemaman River for the first time. The pilot river terrapin conservation program was initiated in February 2011, and was carried out by the local community. As a result, a total of 420 river terrapin eggs were saved from human consumption, and 198 hatchlings were produced.
Some 25 local villagers, both young and old, attended the mini release, which according to En. Mohd. Nor, was the first of its kind. The following pictures will tell the story of the day of the release. All pictures were taken by Pelf.
- Wazir retrieving the basin containing hatchlings from the car

We have said this many times before, but I would like to say this again. A huge THANK YOU to En. Mohd. Nor bin Jusoh, the Headman of Kg. Pasir Gajah, Wazir and his teammates Azmi, Rosli, Nasir, Abdullah, Mat Ludin and Zulkifli!
