TCC’s inaugural Terrapin Independence Day: A joyous event told in pictures
The Turtle Conservation Centre held its inaugural Terrapin Independence Day on the 9th of September 2009. A total of 99 three year-old river terrapins that were head-started were released at Tebing Pasir Pak Lah Teh, one of the nesting banks of the river terrapins in the Setiu River.
TSA in Terengganu to support freshwater turtle conservation
We hosted the visit of three TSA officials—Rick Hudson, Bill Zeigler and Lonnie McCaskill—during their 4-day visit to Kuala Terengganu from 3-6 September 2009 to draw up plans to support river terrapin conservation and to develop the Turtle Conservation Centre (TCC) in Penarik, Setiu.

I would like to thank all our well-wishers in this new journey we are undertaking. We are progressing, albeit at a moderate pace. Apart from developing the TCC (with a lot of passion), we continue to be involved in external tasks started when I was attached to UMT.

A regional workshop to address direct capture of sea turtles was held in Kuala Terengganu from 1-3 June 2009 and attended by 32 invited participants from Malaysia, China (mostly from Hainan), Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.
