We are happy to announce our first Volunteer Programme! This Volunteer Programme is designed to give the Malaysian public — especially undergraduate and postgraduate students — a hands-on experience in our River Terrapin Research and Conservation Project in the Kemaman River, Terengganu.

If you would like to volunteer in our River Terrapin Research and Conservation Project along the Kemaman River for 4 nights, please get in touch with us now!

Hands-on activities that you will be involved in:

  • Patrol the riverbank to locate any River Terrapins
  • Microchip a River Terrapin
  • Mark a River Terrapin for visual identification
  • Weigh and measure the River Terrapin
  • Weigh and measure all the River Terrapin eggs
  • Replant the eggs in the hatchery the next morning

Rates: RM300/pax. Student price: Email [email protected] to inquire.
Included: Accommodation and meals while in Kemaman.
NOT included: Transportation to and from Kemaman, personal insurance.
Maximum: 2 volunteers per slot.

A sneak preview of what to expect when you sign up as a volunteer in our Kemaman River Terrapin Research and Conservation Project :) You will learn and pick up some research skills, the “Geng Tuntung” will be ever-ready to help you, and most importantly, you get to do REAL conservation work. A la National Geographic one too!

Volunteer placement is on a first-come-first-served basis! :)
