TCS & Shark Savers Malaysia Visit ISKL
The Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia and Shark Savers Malaysia had its first combined event on 18 April at the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL). This event was a follow up to the cheque presentation ceremony held early last month during which Monica & Chris, teachers at ISKL, enquired if there was a possibility of us talking to the 1st graders about what we do at TCS and we jumped at the opportunity to reach out to them and we thought why not include our friends at Shark Savers Malaysia who also jumped at the opportunity.
We were represented by myself, Pelf and Pelf’s mom while Shark Savers Malaysia was represented by Kirk Lee and Jenny Chin. There were close to 100 excited 1st graders who attended the event where we spoke about the need for conservation of turtles and sharks, the role they play in the marine ecosystem and also why such efforts were necessary. I first did a talk on sharks and turtles, the threats they face and also why they are crucial to the ecosystem and we then played the following 2 videos.

Kirk & Jenny then wowed the crowd with a very engaging puppet show featuring Bruce the Shark.
Many thanks to the teachers and of course all the 1st graders at ISKL who welcomed us and most importantly, Ms. Monica Tindall and Ms Chris Wright who made it all happen. Our appreciation also goes out to Kirk & Jenny of Shark Savers Malaysia on their support and also for that amazing puppet show.
P/S: And guess what? The kids even did some artwork for us after the event.
